Behold:

This is Adventures in Film Theory. Enter, if you dare. Or turn tail and run. In either case, the stink of these adventures is already on you.

A Serial Killer We Can All Get Behind, in a Sexual Sense

Zodiac and Man Bites Dog, bro!

Sure you got your Silence of the Lambs fans, and Seven aficionados. You got folks who are all about Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, and some who dig on Kalifornia (a serious deep cut for Brad Pitt completists) and Summer of Sam.

To top it off (like sweet dessert), you have your American Psycho, God Bless America, and Natural Born Killers, meta-commentaries, not so much about serial killers themselves, but aspects of our culture that would’ve led the artists or directors of these films to become serial killers

But where, pray tell, is Zodiac? This movie is as much about the people obsessed with solving a mystery and trying to get in the mind of a homicidal maniac. It’s a true masterpiece!

But it’s time we all grew up and got real, and start reviving Man Bites Dog. There’s few movies as nihilistic, or as critical of media nihilism and obsession with murderers, than this wild ride.

Don’t you want to get on the ride???
